About Us

            After the turn of the century, a group of Bible believing people saw a need for a place to worship, thus they built a building here on the corner of PP highway and Townshipline Road.  This church was named the Green Forest church of Christ.

            They built the church upon the word of truth (John 17:17).  They knew also the church needed to always be “The pillar and ground of the truth” (I Timothy 3:15).  When the church teaches the Bible, it can only teach the truth.

            So for years the truth has been the foundation upon which this congregation has been built upon.  We recognize that no building can be stronger then its foundation, thus we want this congregation to be built upon the word of God.

            The church here at Green Forest is under the oversight of its elders (I Peter 5:1-5).  The deacons work as servants and helpers in the work (Philippians 1:1).  The members always search the scriptures to see that the word of God is being taught.

            The church believes that the widows, the orphans, and others in need deserve our help and support.  We work as a congregation to recognize the needs of others and work to fulfill those needs.  This work of benevolence is overseen by the Elders and deacons.

            We believe we need to reach out to the community by letting them know what God’s word teaches.  Acts 4:12 states the salvation is found in no other name but Jesus Christ.

            When you come to visit us here at Green Forest you will find a Bible centered church.  Being “Bible centered” means that we endeavor to read, study and follow only the things in the Bible.  No creeds, no adding to or taking away from the Bible is done.  The only doctrine we hold to is to God’s word.  God’s word is truth, and the only truth.

            We are just ordinary people who pray for one another, who love one another, and care for one another.  If there is a need, we work to fulfill that need. 

            When you come to Green Forest you will find friendly, caring, and loving people.  People who desire to learn about God and His word.  We are never satisfied with the amount of knowledge that we have, thus we study and work to learn more (Matthew 5:6).

            We are sinners that make mistakes, but with the blood of Christ we can be cleansed of our sins.  Being a Christian does not take perfection, but a committed attitude to God, an obedient life, and the forgiving power of Christ’s blood.

            We want to be known as a people who rely upon and know the Bible.  We want to be just like the first century church in our worship, benevolence, and desire to serve God.  Our worship is different than many other forms of worship, but our desire is to open the Bible and worship as God wants.
